DETROIT SPEAKER SERIES 2013: A Dialogue on Detroit Future City Framework

The Semester in Detroit Speaker Series will return tomorrow (Thursday)!


With the infrastructure challenges and fiscal issues facing Detroit, many interested parties are left to wonder, “How should the city (re)imagine itself?” All are invited to the Ann Arbor room of the U-M Detroit Center to learn about the latest proposed Framework – and responses – at the first Detroit Speaker Series event of the year!

Part 1. Framework Overview

Part 2. Responses and Dialogue

Kwamena Mensah – Board President and founding member, Detroit Black Community Food Security Network | Michigan Food Policy Councilmember | Detroit Future City Taskforce Member

June Thomas – U-M Taubman College Centennial Professor of Urban and Regional Planning | Author of Redevelopment and Race (1997) | Co-Editor of The City After Abandonment (2012)

Khalil Ligon – LEAP (Lower East Side Action Plan) Manager, Detroit Neighborhood Partnership East

The last forty minutes will be reserved for audience questions and comments.

Semester in Detroit Associate Director Craig Regester will moderate the event, which is co-sponsored by the U-M Detroit Center.
